Get Slim with Kim: How Kim Davis Should Respond to Her Incarceration
Rowan Country Clerk Kim Davis is in jail for contempt of court. I feel bad for her, not because I support her position—I don’t—but because she is now going to have to go on record as to just how much she loves her God and is obedient to His Word.
According to the Guardian newspaper Judge David Bunning has ruled that Ms. Davis must stay in jail until she complies with his order to issue marriage licenses. Ms. Davis told Fox News that she was ready to be jailed, “This is a heaven or hell issue for me and for every other Christian that believes. This is a fight worth fighting.”
But for how long?
When I heard that Ms. Davis was jailed I immediately thought of St. Paul. Paul too was imprisoned for his beliefs, and he remained in Roman jail until his execution. Is Ms. David willing to do the same? And if she isn’t then just how strong is her commitment to this “heaven or hell issue”?
My advice to Ms. Davis is to engage in a public hunger strike. She should state publically that she is willing to die for her faith, and that since the government won’t behead her as the Romans did Paul, she will starve herself to death.
The government will not let Kim die. They will blink before she does.
But if she capitulates simply to get out of jail her entire argument crumbles and her eternal soul is damned. This is her fault. She should have registered her opposition to marriage equality by resigning, not by pitting her God against he United States of America. But the mistake was made, and now she is going to have live with it.
Please, Kim, stop eating and you’ll be out in a couple of weeks. And use social media to make this a cry for “every Christian that believes” to go on a hunger strike with you. Get thousands of Christians to fast with you. If they refuse you know that their faith is a sham. St. Paul was willing to lose he head for Christ. Christians should be willing to at least lose a few pounds for Him.
